Money Belt: The most Expensive Championship Belt Ever Made

Floyd Mayweather pocketed an enormous payday on his return to the boxing ring - and also took home the 'Money Belt'. Yes the money belt is an icon of a kind and one of it’s class and stature. Perhaps the best and most expensive belt ever made in history.

The super welterweight fight against Conor McGregor was the richest fight in history but there was no title at stake after Mayweather retired. So a special one-off belt was created for the fight, which was presented to Mayweather after his tenth round TKO in Las Vegas.

The belt was made by one of the four boxing sanctioning bodies, the World Boxing Council. Before the fight, WBC president Mauricio Sulaiman said: "This is an event that has captured the event of the world. The fight was a unification bout where Mayweathers WBC Welterweight title belt and Pacquiao’s WBO title belts were on the line and winner unified the world titles in this division and WBC awarded this money belt.

Conor McGregor made his professional boxing debut tonight while Mayweather was looking to, and succeeded in winning the 16th title belt of his career. The belt, which was claimed by Floyd Mayweather , contained 3,360 diamonds, 600 sapphires, 160 emeralds and approximately 3.3 pounds of 24-karat gold, and it also featured the names of both combatants.

"In order to celebrate this event between the WBC hero and the UFC hero, Conor McGregor, the WBC has created the Money Belt," said WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman at the final press conference at the MGM Grand on Friday night.
